Notes:

S = Semestral

The research projects approved after the students’ entry into the Program will form the basis of the students’ proposals for their PhD dissertations and should subscribe to one of the lines of research, with progress reports made in the Research Seminars, of which there are eight in the first year and seven in the second year of study. Actions to be taken will be co-ordinated by those responsible for the respective lines of research. In these Research Seminars (15 in all) the professors will give a course on their area of knowledge and their experience of research and the students will present the advances of their own, approved by their tutors, so attendance is compulsory and recorded on the administrative register.

The Seminars will be attended by “in-house” teachers from the Academic Staff Base, and also by Visiting Professors, whose research activities are linked to each of the lines sustaining the same. Academics from other areas of knowledge and research may also attend and bring elements in support of the works in progress. At the end of each of the two years of the Program, there will be a meeting to Evaluate the research projects of the PhD candidates, which takes the form of a Seminar at which the students are obliged to present the advances made in their research in the course of the year.

The Doctorate Program will last for six teaching cycles, four of seminars and two for writing the thesis, starting from the moment the student is signed up to the course.

The student’s dissertation should be handed in by the student in twelve months at the latest after gaining all the credits from the Teaching Units (Seminars).

In addition to attendance at working meetings (Seminars), equal validity and the same mark as for any of these will be given for taking courses and/or attending academic activities pursued by students from this and other Programs of different types at the same level, with the approval of the Academic Council and following its judgement that the level of study is the same, in this and other University Centers of the University of Guadalajara and in national and/or foreign institutions of Higher Education, in private or public prestigious institutions of renown in science and culture, with the aim of favoring student mobility, interdisciplinary study and the internationalising of Study Plans.
