The main objective of this study is to analyze the relationship between sustainability and urbanism, both at a macro and at a micro level, forms of constructing or tranforming urbanized space and the challenges imposed by the worldwide ecological crisis and the (supposed) emergence of an information society.
This text merely aims to order thoughts and reflections on urbanism and sustainability; to clarify ideas, and significant words, in all the hullabaloo; to make a critical synthesis of contemporary ideas that relate the form of urbanization and of cities to the concept of sustainability; to provide, in short, a balance of the state of the question.
