The requirements for admission to the doctorate program, in addition to those established in the current university regulations (www.secgral.udg.mx/normatividad/ngeneral/RGPosgrado.pdf) are as follows: 

  • Must have a degree in areas related to Architecture, Urban Studies, Sociology, Economics, Public Administration, Engineering, Geography, Anthropology or History. Applications by candidates from other disciplines will be subject to the consideration of the Academic Council.  
  • Compulsory attendance at the Seminar on Studying for a Discipline preparatory course (SED).  
  • Will be interviewed by the Academic Council of the Program. 
  • Should read and understand a second language, and prove it with valid documentation.   
  • Commitment to full time dedication to study (file added to web page).  
  • Selected according to the criteria of evaluation of merit established by the Academic Council.  
  • Printed and digital version of the Research Project to be developed and concluded in the course of the three years of study of the Program. Should have the following characteristics: 
    • In terms of content: title, line of research of the Program to which the project subscribes, justification, statement of the problem, objectives and research questions, methodology proposed, texts to be consulted and suggested bibliography.  
    • In terms of form: maximum length 15 pages, one space and a half between lines, Arial 12 type, vertically printed, bound, American letter sized paper, a printed copy and a PDF file to be handed in. (It may be handed in during the SED.)  
  • Two letters of recommendation from researchers of renown (file attached on web page).  
  • Curriculum vitae in free form with supporting documentation to show experience of research in the previous 5 years.
